There is a price to be paid by not charging the S-10EV to full, and outweighs the benefit of not charging to full. I'll explain. Each of the 26 NiMH battery modules exhibit a slightly different impedance and parasitic discharge rate. Differing module temperatures occur due to...

I am thinking about selling my S10E and would like to get the list's input on what price it should sell for. This is a 1997 S10E with the EVBones NiMH upgrade. I got the truck in March 2006 with 12600 miles on the truck with the recently installed NiMH pack. The truck now has...

I don't have the data to back up my opinion, but I think full 100% charging does shorten battery life. On the Toyota Prius, the NMH batteries are cycled between 40% and I think 85% SOC. They could get the most life out of their batteries in this range. This makes sense to me....

As far as I know, charging the battery to full does not reduce the service life of the batteries. I don't think that is what Don was talking about. I think Don was referring to the fact that if you charge your pack to full and then let it set for a few hours then it will have...

Tom, Thanks for the reply. My serial number starts with SM4700. My problem is that it comes on correctly at 3:00 am, charges the vehicle, and stops, at about 5-6 am. Then, about 4 hours later (at 10:00 am for instance), it comes on again to "top off" the batteries, essentially...

This must be a Gen 2 (or Gen2+) charger - serial number starting with SM45276P or SM4770P. You can delay the start of charging, but you can't stop charging once it's started. The charger's timer is set up to inhibit the start of charging during peak utility times. There are st...

Paul and others, Your two options with that device are find a hughes inductive charger from the early to mid 90's that's still working, which worked 4.4kW and wire it up that way or probably the best alternative (although not a departure from 220 Volts) is to wire up your spar...
