[S10-EV] Replacing fuel fired heater w/ electric element?

Jerry Pohorsky Thu, 8 Mar 2007 08:36:58 -0800 2007 Thread size 11
Hi Lynn, OK - I get it now. The liquid heater from MetricMind mentioned below works, but it sounds like a difficult and bulky installation. There is a much cheaper and simpler solution that I would recommend. I once had a Ford Escort EV that had the electric heater from KTA se...

[S10-EV] Conversion resources

Gil and others, I have found the best place to get up to date information is the Austin EV site at: http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/build that page will bring you to many links, one of which is the ev discussion mailing list: http://www.madkatz.com/ev/evlist.html One nice thin...

[S10-EV] Spare tire

Joshua Tomel Wed, 07 Mar 2007 19:10:19 -0500 2007 Thread size 2
I have the GM parts to install a spare tire under bed and want to do it. I figure if GM didn't have a problem installing a spare tire hoist behind the gas tank it shouldn't be any problem with the battery box either. I also realize this handicaps the trucks range carrying the...

[S10-EV] Conversion resources

Gil Dawson Wed, 7 Mar 2007 12:35:32 -0800 2007 Thread size 3
My neighbor here in LA (Northeast sector) has expressed interest in converting his old Porsche 911 to electric drive. He has asked me what resources may be available. I haven't been keeping up with conversion issues myself, preferring to leave that level of mechanical tinkerin...

[S10-EV] [RAV4-EV] SacBee "Question of the Month" is about EVs

Tom Dowling Thu, 8 Feb 2007 00:31:53 -0800 2007 Thread size 1
One-upmanship: they did use my entry, even though Felix didn't include it in his sample, which is a shortened version from the Bee Web site. Overall, the article is a remarkable response, very favorable. If you can get a copy of the 2/7/07 Sacramento Bee, do it! It's a collect...

[S10-EV] S10-EV Digest, Vol 42, Issue 2

To the list, Here in New York I can't get HOV stickers for my 1998 S10 EV and it is like most of the others here: a full production model not a conversion. I called up the New York State DMV Clean Pass program manager to ask why my fully electric vehicle doesn't meet their req...

[S10-EV] HOV stickers and vehicle counts....

Interesting info posted to the CNG list.... Note that they quote DMV statistics saying that there are 78,000 electric vehicles registered in California. I'm sure this number included registered NEVs with plates, but it's still a higher number than I can recall seeing before. A...

[S10-EV] EV1Dash & CodeWarrior

Hi, The palm model is any M500 series. The model I typically provided in the past is the M515 color. The EV1 app is specific to this older palm series, as Peter has modified the RS-232 comm port to operate as a PWM receiver for the class2 data stream. The port reconfiguration...

[S10-EV] Convert 2x120V outlets to 1x240V outlet?

Niel Nielsen Tue, 30 Jan 2007 00:10:52 -0600 2007 Thread size 8
A normal 120 volt AC outlet is fused (by a circuit breaker) at 15 amps on the "hot" wire. 15 amps times 120 volts is 1800 watts, or 1.8 KW. Combining two 120 volt outlets that are on opposite phases would give you 15 amps at 240 volts. 15 times 240 is 3600 watts, or 3.6 KW. Wh...

[S10-EV] [RAV4-EV] Sacramento Bee -- can you envision yourself driving an all-electric vehicle in the future?

Greg Brewsaugh Fri, 26 Jan 2007 11:41:25 -0800 2007 Thread size 2
What I sent: Mark, Your question is "Can you picture yourself behind the wheel of an electric-powered vehicle someday." Someday? I've been driving electric vehicles since 1997, with three GM EV1s, a Toyota RAV4 EV, and a Ford Ranger EV. I'm still driving the Ford and the Toyot...

[S10-EV] Varying Supply Voltage Circuit Design

Stephen Weitz Wed, 24 Jan 2007 20:49:50 -0800 2007 Thread size 3
Gil, The question you are asking, I think, is similar to the conversion of DC to AC back to DC. In AC the voltage is quite variable over time and yet it is possible to do the conversion to DC. I would think the situation you are describing with capacitors is easier than AC whe...
