Hello Jeff, Pat and Don: I read with great interest the postings on battery life in Digest 51, #1. While I was in New Jersey last week I left the S10 in the "care" of my wife who *always* gets significantly less range than I do no matter which vehicle she uses. In the Prius, I...

Lynn, Ebay is a very fickle marketplace, as we seen dead S10 EV's have gone for almost 15K, with almost assured more problems than just dead batteries. I'm not Ebay Power seller but in my auctions I have gone through enough trial and error in selling that have lead me to four...

There is a price to be paid by not charging the S-10EV to full, and outweighs the benefit of not charging to full. I'll explain. Each of the 26 NiMH battery modules exhibit a slightly different impedance and parasitic discharge rate. Differing module temperatures occur due to...

I don't have the data to back up my opinion, but I think full 100% charging does shorten battery life. On the Toyota Prius, the NMH batteries are cycled between 40% and I think 85% SOC. They could get the most life out of their batteries in this range. This makes sense to me....

As far as I know, charging the battery to full does not reduce the service life of the batteries. I don't think that is what Don was talking about. I think Don was referring to the fact that if you charge your pack to full and then let it set for a few hours then it will have...

I have found early morning charging (cool temps.) and only charging to 3/4 capacity will keep the A/C from going on. You might be able to use conductive charging and not worry about temperature issues if you follows these rules. However, you still have the "state of charge" in...
