[S10-EV] Battery box modified

List member Wed, 7 Nov 2007 04:49:22 EST 2007 Thread size 1
Hello Frank Did the vehicle work before you did this conversion? I am not clear how you set up the replacement and added battery box in the rear. It could be the changes you made has the factory system seeing a problem. I was considering adding Lee's battery balancer to the S-...

[S10-EV] Fwd: batt life warning

Jeff Thomas Fri, 2 Nov 2007 07:08:26 -0700 2007 Thread size 7
There is a price to be paid by not charging the S-10EV to full, and outweighs the benefit of not charging to full. I'll explain. Each of the 26 NiMH battery modules exhibit a slightly different impedance and parasitic discharge rate. Differing module temperatures occur due to...

[S10-EV] What price should I ask for my 1997 S10E with NiMH pack

Adams, Lynn Fri, 2 Nov 2007 07:52:57 -0600 2007 Thread size 7
I am thinking about selling my S10E and would like to get the list's input on what price it should sell for. This is a 1997 S10E with the EVBones NiMH upgrade. I got the truck in March 2006 with 12600 miles on the truck with the recently installed NiMH pack. The truck now has...

[S10-EV] Fwd: batt life warning

I don't have the data to back up my opinion, but I think full 100% charging does shorten battery life. On the Toyota Prius, the NMH batteries are cycled between 40% and I think 85% SOC. They could get the most life out of their batteries in this range. This makes sense to me....

[S10-EV] Fwd: batt life warning

As far as I know, charging the battery to full does not reduce the service life of the batteries. I don't think that is what Don was talking about. I think Don was referring to the fact that if you charge your pack to full and then let it set for a few hours then it will have...

[S10-EV] plugin rather than inductive charging

Stephen Weitz Mon, 22 Oct 2007 21:36:23 -0700 2007 Thread size 5
I have found early morning charging (cool temps.) and only charging to 3/4 capacity will keep the A/C from going on. You might be able to use conductive charging and not worry about temperature issues if you follows these rules. However, you still have the "state of charge" in...

Gil, I think that was very good advice for Joshua and I enjoyed reading it. I too have not had an RPM since the truck came back from Mesa but then it's only been a week or so. It's nice to know that I can go almost anywhere I used to be able to take the Panasonic EV-1 but of c...

[S10-EV] More S-10EV's coming up for auction

The following comes from the EVDL (Electric Vehicle Discussion List). I've never dealt with such title issues but it sounds like an important detail to research before bidding -- see below. It has also been noted that one truck has confused records that make it a gasoline carg...

As I mentioned a few days back on the S-10 list serve, a few 1997 S-10EV trucks are being released by the Government. A total of three this month are coming out of Marietta GA. http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=1398404 http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=...

[S10-EV] Outside Mirrors

Niel Nielsen Thu, 04 Oct 2007 16:01:48 -0500 2007 Thread size 1
I was carrying a box past my '98 S10ev, and bumped the driver's side mirror and broke it off. From looking at the broken parts, it was ready to go, and the bump with the box finished it off. I've noticed that the outside mirrors on this vehicle "whistle" when the vehicle is at...

[S10-EV] OT: National Geographic

Stephen Weitz Wed, 19 Sep 2007 10:45:55 -0700 2007 Thread size 1
the October issue of National Geographic has 2 good articles: 1) The Carbon Crisis, with large map insert on Global warming, and essay on "Carbon's New Math". 2) "Growing Fuel: the wrong way, the right way". Explores the pros and cons. I have only browsed so far, but I think t...

I have converted a 1997 S-10 to electric. I drive it to work every day and I love it. Living in Orlando, I need an air conditioner. So, I am trying to make the factory air work. I would greatly appreciate some information. The problem I am having is with the A/C compressor clu...

Don, I think this has come up because of these item numbers on ebay: 320143205627 & 320143205830. As I believe Jeff mentioned a short while ago that those items were in the back of an old EV the seller sold and they didn't come with the vehicle. Joshua ________________________...

[S10-EV] S10EV Weight Reduction

Bill Palter Tue, 31 Jul 2007 09:35:40 -0700 2007 Thread size 3
There are a lot of aftermarker fiberglass panels designed for S10's. You might be able to replace the bed, fenders and hood.....You also could just pull off the bed and make a lightweight flatbed out of plastic panels. Also there are fiberglass kits to make it look like a 30's...

[S10-EV] S10EV Weight Reduction

List member Mon, 30 Jul 2007 22:56:08 -0700 2007 Thread size 3
Hi, A fellow S10EV driver and I were discussing the idea of reducing the weight of the S10EV. One idea was to replace the original (steel?) bumper with a fiberglass one. Do any of you see a problem with this idea? Have any of you tried this? If so, how well did it work; did yo...
