If the idea of paralleling 2- 60 AH packs works, you should get 100 mile range. In a message dated 8/24/2017 11:46:39 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [email removed] writes: Are the Leaf batteries pouch cells? They appear to show a similar dimension. You can buy the whole car for...

Are the Leaf batteries pouch cells? They appear to show a similar dimension. You can buy the whole car for $7000 , of course it seems a shame to pull apart a perfectly good electric car for it's batteries. Range wise? I dont think I want to be driving an s10 for 400 miles, a g...

Although I like the specs on these pouch cells, I haven't found a good price on them. After a quick search, It seems a 60 AH pack is between $7,000 to $21,000 using 3.2 V- 30 AH pouch cells at $52.00 each. To have a range of 400-450 miles, you're looking at 5 or 6 times that c...

Re: Lithium conversion. If finances allow I would strongly recommend looking at making your own modules from the new generation "pouch cells" (1200 amp/cell discharge rate would give outstanding performance. Charge times are minutes not hours. Cycles are up around 15000. Densit...

Re: FW: s10e - ev1 gear case (Kevin Kayden) (Steve Hawkins) A GM friend suggested to me that the gear case lubricant was an aircraft lubricant/fluid, and should be sourced from same. On Thursday, May 18, 2017 8:09 PM, "[email removed]" <[email removed]> wrote: Send S10-EV mail...

[S10-EV] Lithium conversion

List member Sat, 5 Aug 2017 10:04:05 -0400 2017 Thread size 3
Hi Eric, Thanks for the input. I think the 18650 cells are a better choice for several reasons. The Prismatic cells, often called "Yellow Bricks", don't have the energy density of 18650's and you can't even fit a 100 AH pack in our battery box. However, at 3.2 volts per cell,...

Hi Kevin and all, I'll chime in here.I pretty much consider successfully messing with the trucks soft firm ware as an impossibility since i wouldnt know what i was doing. so you'd pretty much have to fool the BPCM into thinking all is well in the battery box. One of the though...

Ok gang coolant does matter. It must be Dexcool and will say it on the container. AutoZone or Oriellys, yes its typically orange. The conversion to NiMH from lead on the 1997s were not an easy modification. The programming of the BPCM alone was not enough to make it all work....

Good luck! I've had my 1997 S10E for sale for over 2 years. Mine is ready to go with a fresh pack of Lead-Acids. Everything works. Full set of manuals, 3 chargers and a Tech 2. But I'm not seeing a market out there. I'm retired now and it's the perfect vehicle for me now for s...

Hi All Long time lurker here on the email list. Previously I've tinkered with a salvage powertrain from one of these trucks in a swapped project. Now I've recently became a legitimate S10e owner- my 1998 was delivered earlier this month. Its in pretty good shape, missing the c...

[S10-EV] Is anybody still driving their S10E?

Hi Kevin, Michael and Greg; I'm also going through the same sort of decision making. I've owned my 97 s10ev since Jan. 2005 and its been great to me. Of course I've hand to change a few things like coolant pump, brakes, radiator fan buffer and of course the all elusive batteri...

Hello to the survivors, Mine has a few bad batteries. (Lead acids) and of course the computer won't let me move it. I only got 12,500 miles from the pack of Deka 12AVR75 batteries, but believe I could get double that since I'm more aware of how to drive it now. Years ago, when...

Michael; I’m still driving mine, mostly to haul gardening stuff (soil, mulch, sand gravel, shrubs, flowers, tree limbs) or get lumber from building supply, etc. Basically I use it as the pickup truck it was designed to be. The self discharge is getting much worse, and I have m...

Hello Steve, I have a 1998 S-10EV and a 1999 S-10EV. they have some body damage and no batteries. As far as I know the trucks only need batteries. I would sell the two for $5,500.00 or one for 3,000.00, you choose. They ea. have about 9,000 miles. Larry H.

I have held off replying, as this is still very difficult to think about. When Bryan called me it was a total shock. Not only that day, but not able to fall sleep until 5 AM in the morning. Jeff and I enjoyed many days together working on the S-10's and our family's spent time...

Hear hear! Hats off to Jeff, and a moment of EV silence as all electrons cease to move for a Plank Second in honor of Jeff. You are and will be greatly missed, and the world is a bit more empty now without access to the vast knowledge you had in your head and heart. Deepest re...
