Hi Pat, ? I was researching similar problem - I needed a 200V 30A, while all around me was 220V 10A?or 16A. What I found was that it is potentially very dangerous to create direct?electrical connections between the sockets if you do not know the phase (the degrees)?and the sou...

You would need to find two 30A 120V receptacles, one on each side of the line. The S10E requires 208-240V at 30A (which technically calls for a 40A circuit). The standard 120V receptacles that your utility will be installing will be 20A at best, so they are not going to be use...

[S10-EV] legal question on recalls

IF a manufacturer were to issue a mandatory recall and you did not comply then I suspect you would have no defense and perhaps be personally responsible if something destructive happened with the product. Just my opinion. Pv On 8/16/08, Steve Hawkins <[email removed]> wrote: >...

[S10-EV] legal question on recalls

Good perspective. This is interesting as dozens of ICE vehicles burn to the ground in the US every week. I might enjoy taking them to court if they tried that for two defined fires out of hundreds of thousands of charging events. Its shame they have so much money to spend on t...

[S10-EV] S10E Battery Fires

Jeff, would you be willing to outline the specific evidence you have that supports your hypothesis that these fires were caused by "metal fatigue developing in the tree and branch plate interconnect structure can result in broken internal parallel connections, reducing the cel...

[S10-EV] S10-EV Conflagration

I'm not surprised to learn that the charger was not a TAL charger. In my opinion (I'm not claiming to be an expert here), the TAL charger operates in exactly the same way as the Gen 2+ charger. It does not have the display capabilities of the Gen 2/2+. However, like the Gen 2/...

TWIMC: I would like to know from each of the affected owners if the vehicles were being charged on a GM MagnaCharger or a Toyota TAL. It is my belief that the TAL charger which supplies no after-charge support to the vehicle specifically battery cooling battery cooling is the...

The real stuff from GM. GM manufactures a special synthetic lubricant for these EV drive pods. Do not introduce any other lubricant to the system. Contact your chevy dealer. They can order it for you. If they play dumb, contact another dealer. It's a very thin low viscosity fo...

[S10-EV] Towing the S10E

I think tow truck drivers take delight in cowboy antics.... A few years ago, I was in Santa Monica at an EV1 event. Two of the EV charging spaces in the parking lot were blocked by City ICE vehicles -- Tauruses, as I recall. An EV1 driver complained to the Santa Monica police...

[S10-EV] Towing the S10E

Niel, Nearly 10 days ago I was put into the same situation where the truck would not charge or drive out from my garage due to the bad temp sensors and the tow truck driver wanted to do the same thing. I was as firm as possible that no movement of my truck was going to take pl...

[S10-EV] A little update

Hello all, I realize this may be a long shot, but I'm looking for someone with a battery lift here on the East Coast. As it turns out my major problem is that I'm stuck with not one but two out of order temp sensors which has ceased allowing charging. I'm not confident in doin...
