[S10-EV] DTC 287

McMullin, Kevin Thu, 11 Nov 2010 11:23:00 -0500 2010 Thread size 19
Richard, I would not want to guess at which wire would interrupt the charge. I only cut the paddle present, (Dark Green), wire in my harness to test it. There is a ground, (Black), and a power, (Red or Orange), in that plug. The power wire may do it. I don't have the books her...

[S10-EV] DTC 287

Thanks Jeff, Yes, you could drive away with paddle inserted. However if I turn the key on, with paddle inserted, I immediately get a "Service Soon" light and the 287 code. Since I have never been into the charge receptacle, I figured an external micro switch would be easier. I...

[S10-EV] DTC 287

Kevin, I need to add that your reed switch has failed to the degree that the embedded magnets in the charger paddle do not activate it while the paddle is installed. This presents a safety issue whereas you could inadvertently drive away from the charger with the paddle still...

[S10-EV] DTC 287

I thought I posted this last night but I guess it didn't make it. Richard, Doesn't look like you can use the paddle present wire to interrupt a charge. Jeff pointed me in the right direction with the magnet in the paddle info. I located the magnet in the paddle, and determined...

[S10-EV] DTC 287

Kevin, I don't know if any have replied directly to this question. There is a reed switch embedded in a sealed section in the roof (underside ceiling) of the paddle receptacle that responds to your insertion of the paddle into the charge port by initiating the async communicat...

Hello Group, With reluctance, I have finally brought myself to advertise my truck for sale. It is a '97 lead acid truck. Eric Luebben from Irvine CA was the originator of this truck. Eric replaced all battery modules with Panasonic modules used in the Tahoe Hybrid in early '08...

[S10-EV] Dead Ev & Batteries

Hello Isaac Welcome to the S-10 list. I changed the subject line to reflect the content of the post. A thousand miles that is extremely low miles. Usually a truck will have at least 4 or 5 thousand miles before no longer functioning. I have found with low mile dead EVs there w...

Hello Scott An E2 on the charger could be many different problems. You need a Tech2 and clear the codes and see what comes back. Don In a message dated 11/6/2010 2:29:26 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, [email removed] writes: I received the subject message on the Tech 2 yesterday....

[S10-EV] Power Steering "Marvel"

The PSM seems to be especially fragile. I have gone through two of them here. The first replacement cost me $943 including tax and shipping. The second one was free since it failed within 3 months of being installed. Jeff is right. AFAIK there is no replacement for the fried d...

[S10-EV] battery pack fan problem

Jeff Thomas Tue, 19 Oct 2010 13:21:42 -0700 2010 Thread size 5
John, Gil answered this one correctly. I'll add a little to it. The HTCM is responsible for delivering a PWM control signal to the Pack fan motor. If the signal is missing, I'd recommend disconnecting the aux battery, and reseating the two connectors on the HTCM module (under...

[S10-EV] battery pack fan problem

John Miller Mon, 18 Oct 2010 17:00:52 -0600 2010 Thread size 5
Thanks Gil, The red and black wires to the fan now run *directly* between the fan and the battery - the power wiring through the 25-pin connectors is now bypassed. The control wire is still using its original wiring. I have added a pair of wires (one fused) connected directly...

[S10-EV] battery pack fan problem

John Miller Mon, 18 Oct 2010 14:53:56 -0600 2010 Thread size 5
Hi Everyone, I have had various problems in the past with battery pack fans dying or the connectors melting. These problems seemed to get fixed when I wired a direct fused connection between the 12v battery terminals and the connector pigtail. I now have what I think might be...

[S10-EV] S10 Current draw

Man, I can do my masters project on my s10! I have had the thing apart so many times (before jeff rebuilt it for me) I had parts of the manual memorized and built special fixtures to work on the battery. Now I just need to convince Portland state to accept me for the systems e...
