[S10-EV] Question from potential new owner

Hi everyone,
I am considering a S10 EV truck for sale nearby that has dead batteries and was sitting for ten years in a carport.
Couple questions:
1. Are NiMH batteries still available from Ovonic? If so how much are we talking and we’re do you recycle the old ones safely for the environment? Anyone DIY batteries replacement w either lead acid or NiMH? 2. As I don’t know if the truck will work once new batteries are installed, I saw in some posts from 2017 that the shop service manual and scan tools are still in existence does anyone venture to guess if I will need to reset some codes or need special tool like the diagnostic scan tool to accomplish this battery replacement and should truck fire right up after sitting for ten years in a garage? Any other advise please chime in, also what are these truck worth when working?
I don’t want to end up way under water w cost of truck + new batteries Thanks and I’ll post more pictures etc if I get the truck, still trying to figure out if this makes any sense, I like the idea of owning this truck, but these controllers are OEM and I assume no one has hacked them to enable DIY repair/ service etc, but hoping otherwise...
Thanks in advance !!
Cheers,
