My 97 S10E has another bad cell which of course prevents me from driving it more than 5 miles. I've also been looking for an affordable Lithium conversion. What I have found is called the "Smart Battery". The 50 AH will fit in my battery box. I called and spoke with the company and they assure me it is a drop-in replacement and should work fine, even with our computer controlled charging. My batteries are Deka 12AVR75 and weight 55 lbs. each. The Smart Battery is only 15 lbs. So my pack weight would drop?from 1430 lbs to 390 lbs.?1040 lbs. less! However, they are not cheap. http://www.lithiumion-batteries.com/products/12v-50ah-lithium-ion-battery/?If the link doesn't work, search Smart Battery.
When I called and spoke with a salesman, he offered a discount for 26, but it's still over $14,000. I could buy maybe 3 new lead-acid packs for that much, but this smart battery may be the last pack I'd need to buy and without the limitations of a lead-acid.
I also have a possible sale of my truck, (after the Lithium conversion), to another country.

Hello all, It's been almost three years since I purchased my Volt, and about the same amount of time has lapsed since my S10 has been driven. I keep thinking that I'll convert the S10 to Lithium someday, but not sure that'll ever really happen. Anyone interested in buying? Any suggestions? Best,
