The EV1 parts wharehouse was in Michigan and was demolished before 2012
Parts were dumped at the local land fill.
I arrived there too late and missed out - (I would have excavated them if i could) On Saturday, November 30, 2013 7:56 PM, "[email removed]" <[email removed]> wrote: ----- Forwarded Message ----- Send S10-EV mailing list submissions to

than "Re: Contents of S10-EV digest..." Today's Topics: ? 1. GM obsolete parts warehouse ? (Steve Hawkins)
? 2. Re: GM obsolete parts warehouse ? (Otmar Ebenhoech) Hi folks,
I seem to recall a discussion a few years back about GM having an obsolete parts warehouse where they had a dozen or so s10ev motors and drive assys., as I recall for $1,200 each.? I believe someone bought them all at the time.
I am looking for some other parts, and have been searching the list archives to find the link, or phone, or proper name of the warehouse with no success.
Does anyone else recall this string, or the warehouse location, etc., or am I going nuts again?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
PS:? it could have been another list, but I?m pretty sure it was on the s10ev string.
?
Friends and I tried to buy 12 Gen-1 EV-1 motors that were in normal GM parts stock back in the early 2000's. Price was about $1500. We managed to get 6 before they shut us down.?
I haven't heard of the warehouse.?
I still have some used and "core" EV-1 motors here in case someone needs them.? -Otmar

Here is a posting from several years ago from Jeff Thomas (EV Bones) concerning GM parts availability. If you read down to the end you'll see "otmar" who I guess got 6 before it was too late: Hello everyone,
Lloyd here from cold and snowy Minnesota. A few weeks ago driving home from work I
managed to put my truck in the ditch trying to negotiate a turn on icy roads. I
went in snow filled ditch real light, didn?t do any body damage or even
wreck the front air dam. While trying to rock the truck back and
forth(forward/reverse) I did some damage to the internals of the traction
motor. I now get a very pronounced grinding noise when decelerating or going in
reverse. The noise is coming from inside the motor housing. I am planning on
dropping the motor from the truck in the next couple weeks and take it apart to
see what is damaged. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this
procedure? Is there anyone out there that may have spare internal parts for it?
Thanks in advance for any help given.

Subject: Re: [S10-EV] Traction motor internal parts needed The drive pod is toast. Please don't drive it. I am assuming you have parked it, but just in case, I will include the following warning:
If you continue to drive this vehicle on the highway, you stand a strong chance of pin or spur gear debris finding it's way into the planetary. When this happens it can be catastrophic and either lock both the front wheels, or leave one wheel active; jerking the wheel out of your hands.
Your situation brings up another touchy point.
Until recently it was still possible to purchase a complete drive pod assembly from Chevrolet with this P/N: 27007237This P/N along with your VIN at the parts counter would get you a complete crated motor and reduction drive for a very reasonable price.
It appears that GM has recently made *all* spare parts for the S-10EV unavailable. I don't know exactly when this happened. Sometime in 2008.Items once having a high available inventory count were changed to zero overnight.
Your options are to purchase another truck for parts, or perhaps someone who had purchased a spare pod may be willing to sell one to you.Anyone who has a spare pod receives these list posts. No internal drive pod components are serviceable. And, being a lubricated system, particulate has already contaminated the motor bearings, so there's no salvaging it.
